Steven Starr

Steven Starr was born in Seattle Washington USA, began playing the piano at age 7 and his recording career in the early 1980s performing his original solo piano compositions at a Seattle Night Club. There he met David Lanz (Grammy nominated pianist) and legendary platinum selling recording artist with 50 albums currently produced. David with his profound talent, wisdom, personal styles and techniques, collaborated with Steven and inspired him to record his own original compositions. From his wisdom, Steven adopted his own unique styles and released new songs widely accepted at radio stations and Seattle area concerts.

Steven’s inspiration for creating music is cultivated from feelings of love, happiness, enlightenment and times of blues too. He strives to magnify your deepest emotions and nurture them to a point of bliss. His creative process is an infinite reservoir of melodic combinations with essential personal artistic expression.  

The genre of his newest solo piano blues music albums forthcoming in the Winter and Spring of 2026 will consist of original contemporary blues compositions only.  

Influences from other world renowned musicians besides David Lanz, have been George Winston, Billy Joel, John Lennon, Floyd Cramer, John Lee Hooker, Fats Domino, Otis Spann, Doctor John, Jelly Roll Morton, Professor Longhair, Henry Butler, James Booker, Thomas Fats Waller, Teddy Wilson, Scott Joplin, George Gershwin, Beethoven, Bach and Chopin.
